Whatever has Mountain Dew got to do with Memory, Learning and Confidence?

I chose my photo of a pile of gigantic tyres because they fit in entirely with today’s topic.
Tyres come in all sorts of different sizes and types for specific purposes
~ purpose/intent is the driving force of TCR and it is continually checked and refined
for your needs of the material being read to be read efficiently
~ hence the different tread for different situations.
You use consistent patterns when TCR that are suitable for your current requirements.
As an individual you have the ability to be flexible and mix and match to pile up your memory
and finally the important point is that memory is built up in layers.

Whatever has Mountain Dew got to do with Memory, Learning and Confidence?

Mountain Dew was his language, his experience, his security.
My computer programmes, chocolate, purchased and created aids belonged to the confused world.

Memory.
While memory is built up in layers it is stored in bits in apparently random places
and re-created each time it is recalled.
I understand that a CD or DVD does not store information in a sequential pattern
but in various segments across the disk; and yet the music or film is recalled in perfect order.
If you load information: a,b,c,d,e,f,g onto a disk and a little late your delete b, c and f then the next pieces of information you load will fill up those empty spaces first and not necessarily in linear order.
I think that this is one of the ways that a creative combination of ideas can emerge – eureka!
Additionally you can think of memory recall as a chain that has been build up of sequences.
If a link or segment is missing or defective then the whole cannot be recalled.
In such I cases I would say, “I read something somewhere that said something along the lines of ….”
Then they say that if you want to really know a subject then you teach it. :)
Into this statement is built in the detailed learning of the subject so that you can explain
or demonstrate it externally and that repetition of knowledge builds with repeated practice.
Repetition or habit is one of five proposed learning gateways to the mind.
For these reasons when Turbo Charged Reading you pour a whole book into your innermind
in a few minutes then you give your new and growing neurons time to collate, cross reference
and highlight the information you want at this point in time before bringing this required information into your conscious working mind. Therefore from your very first contact with this information,
either printed or from an electronic screen, you do so in sequence
with each layer building on the last and so being an efficient use of your time
as you do not elicit information that is not to be used at this time.
Also with each successful layer followed you are building confidence and long term memory.
When discussing memory there is the state and none state theory of memory.
Where is memory is stored; is it confined within your scull or in every cell of your body?
However, right now we are concerned with the memorising of information, clearly and long term.

Does memory come before learning?
I leave that for you to debate.
Learning is acquired in layers, by process and practice leading to increasing confidence.
Confidence is being able to perform a skill whereas self esteem is having a secure inner regard.
Learning can enter the mind / body by a proposed five routes.
Trauma, habit, hero worship (think pop stars, advertisements etc), authority figures (think parents, law, religion etc) and alpha (in hypnotherapy we use the authority of the self during the alpha state
to access the other four areas of learning.)
The focused learning state in any area of life uses the Alpha wave state in the brain
as concentration, absorption, fascination, the reduction of extraneous thoughts.
The learning state of alpha is natural and starts to initiate as soon as you close your eyes
or focus increasingly inwards on a subject, novel, film, conversation etc.
In doing any of these activities you could be considered to be in an enhanced environment.
Each time you experience something your brain immediately starts laying down the foundations
for its memory/recall and this requires a new neural network – or extra space on the CD.
This is a purely physical matter; think of someone who’s been confined to bed
and you recognise that their muscles atrophy or an elderly person who’s hormones have altered
and therefore does not have the capacity of the young or think of a person who’s family history indicates a ‘weak’ heart; if any of these people increase their physical exercise
then new muscles and veins etc are created.
Similarly the great ‘they’ took a number of mice from their boring cage and put them into a cage
with interesting activities. The enhanced activity mice stayed in this enriched environment
for shorter and shorter periods of time so that eventually the scientists found that
the building of neural networks started as soon as the mice entered the enriched environment.
It is not simply a case of use it or lose it but also of continuing or starting to build your abilities.
With Turbo Charged Reading after you have poured all that information into your inner mind
and submitted a request for certain information that satisfied your purpose to be recalled
for your first layer of learning recall; you then get out of the way and give your neural network
the chance to organise itself and create the necessary new neurons to satisfy your purpose.

Confidence.
I was engaged to help a 13 year old get past his problems with algebra
(the fact that algebra is a complete mystery to me is irrelevant).
My intent/purpose was to find the point just before his confusion; that being the point of his security.
I found fractions as the first point of insecurity, the frightening quagmire with no way out.
I used my skills, my ingenuity and we got nowhere. I then grabbed the empty bottles of Mountain Dew he and his father had been drinking and put a fraction of water in one of them.
Mountain Dew was safe, it was part of his understanding and it had nothing to do with fractions.
Light dawned and very rapidly he was able to bring into his confidence
the things his teachers had been trying to teach him.
I find it interesting that when you work with critical incident de-briefing you take the person
back to their point of confidence before the trauma, or series of little traumas,
and ‘lock’ them into their confidence. Another description of this is to ‘anchor’ them
in the safe experience of themselves before the distressing incident; or the last straw
that broke the camel’s back if there has been a series of accumulating stresses.

How is this expressed in Turbo Charged Reading?
By building up the sequence of Turbo Charged Reading using the language
with which you are most familiar, expressed as ‘your primary and secondary learning modalities’.
In ‘English’ that means starting with the simple and building into the more detailed how-tos
of each stage: You pour the written information into your inner mind thus bypassing your eyes
and conscious mind. Unexpectedly to your experience and expectation, at this stage,
the information is unavailable to you; you have no earthly idea of what you have read
as its bypassed your conscious mind and is now part of your inner knowing – your store
of information. You then do nothing while you let your innermind create the necessary neurons
that catalogue the information read and cross reference it with what you already know and you create new music or beer from what you already know but have not combined in that way before.
Finally you bring the information that you require at this moment into your conscious awareness.
These sequences are then built upon as your knowledge (learning), security (confidence)
and memory (recall) are extended (enhanced).

The usual last way of eliciting and recording the information you wish from your written material
is to create a mind map and mind maps are an excellent and efficient way
for most people to store and recall information.
Therefore I start the first Success Level of the five Turbo Charged Reading levels
by creating mind maps or in this case ‘Mind Tress’ during our first session.
As a mind map covers the major learning styles (your safe language/experience) of being visual
and I’ve seen some mind maps that are works of art.
Some people prefer their ‘mind maps’ in the business process mapping format or as bullet points.
For those who learn best by hearing I tell stories that builds up dialogue in your mind
and these stories are copied with a few words onto the mind map.
All TCR Success Level written work is repeated as MP3s for convenience
and for those who prefer to listen as opposed to reading at this point .
For the kiensthetic and those who like the security of notes and handouts you are physically building up a representation of your learning in a way that satisfies your personal experience
while encompassing the necessary structure of the learning process.
TCR uses the body as part of the reading process.
For those of you who use olfactory and gustatory points of reference
I’m afraid that you’ll have to add these memory aids yourself and are encouraged to do so
as research values these modalities, especially for revision and exams.
So with our Turbo Charged Reading partnership we start with the end in mind
and build in everything to ensure your success.
Turbo Charged Reading: Read fast>>>Remember all>>>Years later

You can TCR software and engineering manuals for spontaneously recall – or pass that exam.
I can Turbo Charge Read a novel 6-7 times faster and remember what I’ve read.
I can TCR an instructional/academic book around 20 times faster and remember what I’ve read.

Confidence: tips, advice and subliminal training

Get Confidence - Powerful Subliminal Training (in HD)

This article shows the natural parallels to Turbo Charged Reading and these are printed in bold with the original article's information (oh dear, my sense of humour wants to say 'un-bold or fearful').

Building Self-Confidence                 Inbuilt with the logical steps of Turbo Charged Reading
Preparing Yourself for Success!      Purpose or reason-for is the foundation of success.
Build your self-confidence               Dealing with the self-confidence gremlins is a done deal.
p.s. When I posted this YouTube I didn’t need it myself as a TCR. (But! - At the end.)

James Manktelow & Amy Carlson.
From the quietly confident doctor whose advice we rely on, to the charismatic confidence
of an inspiring speaker, self-confident people have qualities that everyone admires.
Self-confidence is extremely important in almost every aspect of our lives,
yet so many people struggle to find it. Sadly, this can be a vicious circle:
People who lack self-confidence can find it difficult to become successful.
M'reen: During the TCR course your Gremlins are quashed.
After all, most people are reluctant to back a project that's being pitched
by someone who was nervous, fumbling, and overly apologetic.
On the other hand, you might be persuaded by someone who speaks clearly,
who holds his or her head high, who answers questions assuredly,
and who readily admits when he or she does not know something.
Self-confident people inspire confidence in others: their audience, their peers, their bosses,
their customers, and their friends. And gaining the confidence of others is one of the key ways
in which a self-confident person finds success.
M'reen: TCR your programme manuals, course work etc.
The good news is that self-confidence really can be learned and built on.
And, whether you’re working on your own self-confidence
M'reen: TCR and absorb and so naturally live all your self-help books
or building the confidence of people around you, it’s well-worth the effort!
M'reen: Your success with Turbo Charged Reading breeds long term success
in many other areas of your life.

How Confident do you Seem to Others?
Your level of self-confidence can show in many ways: your behavior, your body language,
how you speak, what you say, and so on. Look at the following comparisons
of common confident behavior with behavior associated with low self-confidence.
Which thoughts or actions do you recognize in yourself and people around you?
Self-Confident
Low Self-Confidence
Doing what you believe to be right, even if others mock or criticize you for it.
Governing your behavior based on what other people think.
Being willing to take risks and go the extra mile to achieve better things.
Staying in your comfort zone, fearing failure, and so avoid taking risks.
Admitting your mistakes, and learning from them.
Working hard to cover up mistakes and hoping that you can fix the problem before anyone notices.
Waiting for others to congratulate you on your accomplishments.
Extolling your own virtues as often as possible to as many people as possible.
Accepting compliments graciously. “Thanks, I really worked hard on that prospectus. I’m pleased you recognize my efforts.”
Dismissing compliments offhandedly. “Oh that prospectus was nothing really, anyone could have done it.”
As you can see from these examples, low self-confidence can be self-destructive,
and it often manifests itself as negativity. Self-confident people are generally more positive –
they believe in themselves and their abilities, and they also believe in living life to the full.

What is Self-Confidence?
Two main things contribute to self-confidence: self-efficacy and self-esteem.
(Wikipedia: Self-efficacy is the extent or strength of one's belief in one's own ability
to complete tasks and reach goals. I understand this as confidence; confidence in
your ability to ‘ride-a-bike’ and self esteem in your right to be able-to-ride-a-bike.)
We gain a sense of self-efficacy when we see ourselves (and others similar to ourselves)
mastering skills and achieving goals that matter in those skill areas. This is the confidence that,
if we learn and work hard in a particular area, we'll succeed; and it's this type of confidence
that leads people to accept difficult challenges, and persist in the face of setbacks.
M'reen: Practice makes perfect, with TCR your practice is incremental, provable at each stage and supported by a carefully designed programme that enhances your ability to use
your body, mind and energy in harness for your assured progress to the level of success that is appropriate at this time with the long term ability to gain even more.
To this end the TCR success levels are detailed and repeated as MP3s(notes)
with additional Gremlin busting MP3(+) providing skills to be used in all areas of life.

This overlaps with the idea of self-esteem, which is a more general sense that we can cope
with what's going on in our lives, and that we have a right to be happy. Partly, this comes from
a feeling that the people around us approve of us, which we may or may not be able to control.
However, it also comes from the sense that we are behaving virtuously, that we're competent
at what we do, and that we can compete successfully when we put our minds to it.

Some people believe that self-confidence can be built with affirmations and positive thinking.
At Mind Tools, we believe that there's some truth in this, but that it's just as important to build
self-confidence by setting and achieving goals – thereby building competence.
Without this underlying competence, you don't have self-confidence:
you have shallow over-confidence, with all of the issues, upset and failure that this brings.
M'reen: I think that ‘affirmations’ are often used as a magic formula
and that ‘positive thinking’ can lead to guilt trips.
Therefore when Turbo Charged Reading any purpose/reason-for statements
these are checked to see if they are compatible with your life beliefs,
as if not so then your protective gremlins will not allow your desired success.
Therefore these blocks are sought, recognised and then dealt with
using energy skills that you can take into other areas of your life.

Building Self-Confidence
So how do you build this sense of balanced self-confidence,
founded on a firm appreciation of reality?
The bad news is that there’s no quick fix, or five-minute solution.
The good news is that building self-confidence is readily achievable, just as long as you have
the focus and determination to carry things through. And what’s even better is that the things
you’ll do to build self-confidence will also build success – after all, your confidence
will come from real, solid achievement. No-one can take this away from you!
So here are our three steps to self-confidence, for which we’ll use the metaphor of a journey: preparing for your journey; setting out; and accelerating towards success.
M'reen: When TCR, a novice takes six minutes to pour 2-300 pages into their innermind
to be processed and bring forth the level of recall required at that time
with the rest ready for a higher level recall if wanted.
This information is programmed for long term memory of desired and/or spontaneous recall. That is why I use a space-hopper to describe this journey

Step 1: Preparing for Your Journey
The first step involves getting yourself ready for your journey to self-confidence.
You need to take stock of where you are, think about where you want to go, get yourself in the right mindset for your journey, and commit yourself to starting it and staying with it.

In preparing for your journey, do these five things:

Look at What You've Already Achieved
Think about your life so far, and list the ten best things you've achieved in an "Achievement Log." Perhaps you came top in an important test or exam, played a key role in an important team,
produced the best sales figures in a period, did something that made a key difference
in someone else’s life, or delivered a project that meant a lot for your business.
Put these into a smartly formatted document, which you can look at often.
And then spend a few minutes each week enjoying the success you’ve already had!
Think About Your Strengths
Next, use a technique like SWOT Analysis to take a look at who and where you are. Looking at your Achievement Log, and reflecting on your recent life, think about what your friends would consider to be your strengths and weaknesses. From these, think about the opportunities and threats you face.
Make sure that you enjoy a few minutes reflecting on your strengths!
Think About What's Important to You, and Where you Want to Go
Next, think about the things that are really important to you,
and what you want to achieve with your life.
Setting and achieving goals is a key part of this, and real self-confidence comes from this.
Goal setting is the process you use to set yourself targets,
and measure your successful hitting of those targets.
Inform your goal setting with your SWOT Analysis.
Set goals that exploit your strengths, minimize your weaknesses, realize your opportunities,
and control the threats you face.
And having set the major goals in your life, identify the first step in each.
Make sure it’s a very small step, perhaps taking no more than an hour to complete!
M'reen: My goodness you could TCR a number of books deep into your innermind
in an hour. It tool me 22 minutes to TCR 5 books containing 2012 pages, as these were new books the pages didn't turn easily. My innermind would need 20 minutes to overnight to work on this material before I brought it back into my conscious, working, mind.
How much do you charge for an hour of your services?
An hour of each word reading is costing you that much!
And how much of what you've just read can you use and remember?
Start Managing Your Mind
At this stage, you need to start managing your mind.
Learn to pick up and defeat the negative self-talk which can destroy your confidence.
And Then Commit Yourself to Success!
The final part of preparing for the journey is to make a clear and unequivocal promise
to yourself that you are absolutely committed to your journey,
and that you will do all in your power to achieve it.
If as you’re doing it, you find doubts starting to surface, write them down
and challenge them calmly and rationally. If they dissolve under scrutiny, that’s great.
However if they are based on genuine risks,
make sure you set additional goals to manage these appropriately.
Either way, make that promise!
Tip:
Self-confidence is about balance. At one extreme, we have people with low self-confidence.
At the other end, we have people who may be over-confident.
If you are under-confident, you’ll avoid taking risks and stretching yourself;
and you might not try at all. And if you’re over-confident, you may take on too much risk,
stretch yourself beyond your capabilities, and crash badly.
You may also find that you’re so optimistic that you don’t try hard enough to truly succeed.
Getting this right is a matter of having the right amount of confidence, founded in reality
and on your true ability. With the right amount of self-confidence, you will take informed risks,
stretch yourself (but not beyond your abilities) and try hard.

So How Self Confident Are You?
Take our short quiz  to find out how self-confident you are already,
and start looking at specific strategies to improve your confidence level.

Step 2: Setting Out
This is where you start, ever so slowly, moving towards your goal.
By doing the right things, and starting with small, easy wins, you’ll put yourself on the path to success – and start building the self-confidence that comes with this.
Build the Knowledge you Need to Succeed
Looking at your goals, identify the skills you’ll need to achieve them. And then look at how you can acquire these skills confidently and well. Don’t just accept a sketchy, just-good-enough solution – look for a solution, a program or a course that fully equips you to achieve what you want to achieve and, ideally, gives you a certificate or qualification you can be proud of.
Focus on the Basics
When you’re starting, don’t try to do anything clever or elaborate.
And don’t reach for perfection – just enjoy doing simple things successfully and well.
Set Small Goals, and Achieve Them
Starting with the very small goals you identified in step 1, get in the habit of setting them,
achieving them, and celebrating that achievement. Don’t make goals particularly challenging
at this stage, just get into the habit of achieving them and celebrating them.
And, little by little, start piling up the successes!
Keep Managing Your Mind
Stay on top of that positive thinking, keep celebrating and enjoying success,
and keep those mental images strong.
You can also use a technique like Treasure Mapping to make your visualizations even stronger!
And on the other side, learn to handle failure. Accept that mistakes happen when you’re trying something new. In fact, if you get into the habit of treating mistakes as learning experiences,
you can (almost) start to see them in a positive light.
After all, there’s a lot to be said for the saying “if it doesn’t kill you, it makes you stronger!”

Step 3: Accelerating Towards Success
By this stage, you’ll feel your self-confidence building. You’ll have completed some of the courses
you started in step 2, and you’ll have plenty of success to celebrate!
This is the time to start stretching yourself.
Make the goals a bit bigger, and the challenges a bit tougher. Increase the size of your commitment.
And extend the skills you’ve proven into new, but closely related arenas.

Tip 1:
Keep yourself grounded – this is where people tend to get over-confident and over-stretch themselves. And make sure you don’t start enjoying cleverness for its own sake…
Tip 2:
If you haven't already looked at it, use our How Self Confident Are You? quiz to find out
how self-confident you are, and to identify specific strategies for building self-confidence.
As long as you keep on stretching yourself enough, but not too much, you'll find your self-confidence building apace. What's more, you'll have earned your self-confidence – because you’ll have
put in the hard graft necessary to be successful!
Goal setting is arguably the most important skill you can learn to improve your self-confidence.

Key Points
Self-confidence is extremely important in almost every aspect of our lives,
and people who lack it can find it difficult to become successful.
Two main things contribute to self-confidence: self-efficacy and self-esteem.
You can develop self-confidence with these three steps:
Prepare for your journey.
Set out on your journey.
Accelerate towards success.
Goal setting is probably the most important activity that you can learn
in order to improve your self-confidence.

M'reen:
When I posted this YouTube to Turbo Charged Reading I didn’t need it myself as a TCR.
However, I’ve later come across a situation where I don’t feel that confident
and so I wish to gain the confidence I need in this area in order to make the progress I desire.

What this list means to you is personal to you at this point in your life.
Just because you understand and accept one point
does not mean that the next person will resonate with it in the same way.
The list is copied from the youtube and you would read the statements
using the personal pronoun, ' I '.

Using my pendulum: Do I believe I am (the list below)?
Out of 52 statements incorporated in the Confidence Theta YouTube
my innermind accepted 34
but my conscious mind tells me that some of the others are unrealistic.
So I’ll see how in the next days of listening (theta) and watching (subliminals) this YouTube
benefits me.
Actually I didn't follow the expected pattern of listening and watching.
I listened to the YouTube multiple times while working on the computer
and the following day I believed the 18 statements left from the day before.
Interestingly, my ego still doesn't consciously believe some of them
however if I re-frame them (understand them in a different light)
I find them to be acceptable.
This was posted on 13/08/14 and I accessed it on 12/11/14
so I thought I might as well check to see if my beliefs about myself were still true
and I checked positive for each belief.
For argument's sake, if you come back and re-check and find that you are no longer confident
with one of these 'I' statements; it does not mean that 'it' hasn't worked
it simply means that you have had the confidence to allow another aspect to arise to be worked on - congratulations.

You are confident and in control.
You totally trust yourself
You make things happen.
You always know what to say, and you say it.
You radiate love and happiness.
You have special talents.
You are worthy of your dream.
When you speak people stop and listen.
You know what you want and you ask for it.
People respect your wisdom.
You seek out and conquer new challenges.
You are important to this world.
You are brilliant and everyone notices.
You only need approval from yourself and you have it.
Your possibilities are endless.
You are worthy of great love.
You make quick, good decisions.
You believe in yourself.
You accomplish many great things.
You have power over your life.
You are important.
You choose what to accept or dismiss in your life.
You feel and speak confidently.
You know what needs to be done and you do it.
People are drawn to your positive energy.
You are confident and dependable.
You take responsibility for yourself.
You always shine with knowing.
You are safe, loved and protected.
You like yourself more and more each day.
You carry yourself with dignity.
You are a cause for change.
Your inner dialogue is of confidence and determination.
You are naturally confident.
No one can challenge your confidence.
You take what you want from life.
You are a rock. People are drawn to your strength.
You glow with fierce confidence.
You easily control situations.
You are attractive to people inside and out.
You are a winner, always.
Your inner core is strength and confidence.
Everyone accepts you for what you are.
You are a clear and focussed.
You deserve to have your desires fulfilled.
You speak with ease and confidence.
Everyone loves and accepts you.
You are kind, just and fair.
You have much to teach about living to the fullness.
You give yourself permission to be amazing.                                                                                           You can handle anything.

Picture books – pictures without words and Turbo Charged Reading?

My 3rd birthday / Christmas present. M'reen

Picture books – pictures without words and Turbo Charged Reading? M’reen

First let me explain that teaching children to read is not my subject area though I did volunteer
to help bring young readers up to their age level when I lived in Colorado Springs USA.
I probably didn’t ‘read’ picture books with my three children or take full advantage of them
in my Nursery School for which I created the curriculum.
But we can all learn and pass on that learning skill.

Picture books – words without pictures and Turbo Charged Reading?
It’s just another example of how TCR is a natural process
and that you already have the skills you need to be successful.

As pointed out elsewhere, comprehension and confidence and bypassing your conscious mind
are the key components to TCR, learning, memory and long term recall.
~ Bypassing your conscious mind simply involves some physical and energy skills
being used in conjunction with skills you already use but of which you may not be aware.
~ Confidence involves an effortless step by step programme that takes into account
as many different reading needs as is possible
with the added benefit of working with the gremlins between your ears.
~ Comprehension is a necessary skill and like spelling and writing is a different skill to reading.
My granddaughter was in her last year of Junior School before they decided that she
had a comprehension problem. However her spelling list did include words I’ve never uttered
in my life and so had difficulty in putting into a sentence that was understandable to her.
And since she would probably never meet those words again in decades, if ever,
they could not possibly be remembered.
By the way have you checked that your child can put those spelling list words into a sentence?
When in Spain, where a lot of children speak 2-4 languages I was checking the reading homework
of a child of around 9 years old who was reading in English and could speak English easily.
For whatever reason I decided to check her comprehension and drew a blank
also when looking through her homework book no one had bothered to check
if she actually understood what she was reading!

Picture books are the first step in reading words.
When reading in English you (usually) get used to ‘reading’ from the front page to the back page
and from left to right along the line while going down each line on the page as you read.
In TCR you can TCR read in this way; however with my first 'Charge' through a book
I prefer to turn the pages from the last page to the first with the book upside down
before Charging through it in the traditional front to back format. For me this has the advantage that interesting words and phrases don’t pop up into my conscious awareness.
Also you allow both pages to simultaneously bypass your eyes and conscious awareness
and go straight into your innermind to be processed by your newly growing neurons
to satisfy your reason for reading this printed or electronic material.
With picture books you can pre-’read’ the story by describing in your own words the tale the pictures
are describing and in this way you are introducing words and language patterns, sequence, emotions, the weather  and expectations etc. before you start with the written word.
First you are 'reading’ the picture yourself as the expert (author)
before extending the child concious awareness of the story the pictures might be telling.
Then when the child reads the printed words he/she has an inner knowledge of the story
and so can read with far more confidence.
Turbo Charged Reading is exactly the same.
You choose a book following a sequence that helps to ensure that you don’t waste your time
by reading only what is relevant from newspaper articles, soft-wear manuals
or books from a few pages long to the size of a small library.
After which you read the ‘pictures’ and this means you ordinary read the front and back covers,
the inside flaps, the table of contents and glance through the pages before making the decision:
do you want to bin this material, put it in your resource pile, only read certain sections
or read the full text now or in planned sessions?
You now have a level of knowledge of the book and this is your first level of understanding
which becomes your first level of memory and so long tern recall.
You have developed a relationship with the text claiming it for your own as you choose to read
what is appropriate to you and in the order that is most beneficial for your purpose of reading.

Introduction to Turbo Charged Reading

HAHAHA, what a face.
Turbo Charged Reading does require a little work - but not that much!
However, it is great for experiencing the depth of emotions
when you read a novel or when you read in the spiritual or aesthetic realms.

My experience of memory and Turbo Charged Reading

My experience of memory and Turbo Charged Reading
Dangerous Days in the Roman Empire
By Terry Deary.
Written By M'reen

The Mind Map below of the first 6 pages would not be understandable to anyone
who was not intimately familiar with the story in question. This is because Mind Maps are
a personal shorthand designed to trigger a wealth of detailed material from the innermind.

I went through all the TCR steps and poured the whole book directly into my innermind
in a matter of minutes. Even though I had a clearly defined purpose for reading the book
and had given my innermind instructions as to what it was to do with the material
once it was in there - had I not taken the next steps then like un-watered seedling
those newly forming neurons would have withered.
I have no earthly idea what the rest of the book is about but I can now write about those six pages without reference to the book as I took my reading memory to the next level and produced
this Mind Map. When composing the Mind Map after TCR the text I’d say that my recall
was around 95% of the content but with no memory of the names.
Was that the end? No!
I could be happy with that level of recall
or take it to the next level and use memory techniques to add the names.
This Mind Map would have been sufficient for me if it had been described thus:
Converted Christian. Vibia Perpetua and her slave Felictas and 2 others.
Roman Emperor Septimus Servius AD 203
thought of himself as god and required the burning of incense as proof.
Husband. Distanced himself by abandoning her and their child.
Father, wealthy North African begged her to renounce her Christianity.
Roman Governor. Hilarianus, may have had an arena seating 50,000
The crowd. Wanted them whipped – martyrs happy as Jesus was whipped.
Pagan goddess. Ceres. Vibia Perpetua fought so hard against being dressed as a pagan
that they gave up and like the Wicker Man she started singing a psalm.
The Christians said, “you may judge us, but God will judge you and this city.”
Roman Governor. Hilarianus, had them stripped naked
but the crowd were horrified so they were given tunics.
He let loose a mad cow which tossed Vibia Perpetua who, confused, pulled down her ripped tunic,
asked for a pin to tidy her hair and asked when they were going to be tossed.
After the second toss she was dying and was dragged to the killing corner (of the round arena)
where the gladiators cut the throats of victims to ensure their death.
The crowd. Had not had sufficient sport so insisted she be brought to the centre to be killed.
The gladiator bungled the job stabbing her in the neck.
Myth? Vibia Perpetua guided the knife to her own throat.

The level in black forms a general overview of the story, the points of a Mind Map.
The next level is to learn the names of the protagonists.
The next level is to absorb the barbarism of other cultures both ancient and modern.
The final level is to understand and retain the modern medical knowledge
of her progress in the arena to her death. This level finally covers the entire 6 pages.

Memory strategies:
1.       Vibia Perpetua. I divided this into syllables Vib/i/a Per/pet/u/a (each syllable has a vowel)
I repeated these with rhythm (aural learning) and by slapping my hand on my thigh (kinaesthetic learning) however this was not having much effect so I employed visual learning. Unfortunately this is going to have to be explained in the long promised article
on learning how to spell in any language or to learn formulae.
2.       Septimus Servius. Professor Servius Snape succeeds by division.
A septum is a wall that divides e.g. one nostril from the other.
The nose being needed to smell the incense.
Here is an example of ‘linking’ an unknown thought with a known thought
and the more amusing the link then the easier it is to remember particularly
if it includes visual, kinaesthetic and aural (of the ear) references.
3.       Hilarianus. Need you ask?
4.       This leaves alliteration:
Felictas; who probably did not offer felicitation for her fate.
Or Ceres who probably couldn’t have cared less.
5. The mad cow has eyelashes to denote female, ferocious teeth, 2 horns for 2 tosses
and 4 blobs on her ear rings to remind me that there were 4 Christians.

As described in a previous blog when I mentioned this mind map, my mind started slotting in
the various points into their position on the paper, so for me position is an important point,
whereas for someone else it may be e.g. colour.
You may also notice that when describing this in list form
people and events are described chronologically and in an importance order.
For example Vibia Perpetua is in the written title position not the Mind Map central position.
The Emperor comes at the important 1st left position where I’ve put her husband and then her father.
As pointed out elsewhere you will probably feel more comfortable with one presentation
and having satisfied that level of understanding and/or memory
might want to go onto the next level for which you might use a different format.
You might re-write the whole story in your own style or as a rap, a song, a poem or a play?
In any of these ways you make the material your own
and not the author who now becomes a source rather than the authority.
In deciding how many levels you want or need, you are taking control of your time
but having TCR the information and taking it to your desired level the rest is in your innermind
for future use and also you have catalogued that book cover for your personal Dewy system.
